His Holy Name - Introduction

His Holy Name {Introduction} start in Jan. 4th, 2009

His Holy Name {Introduction} - Faith Sisters

Before we begin our study of our first attribute of God on January 4th, I wanted to share a few things that Jean Nystrand, Executive Director of Bible Study Fellowship, said about studying God's attributes. I loved it, I have it written in my journal for this year's study, and I pray you enjoy it too. Here is what Jean said: **God's attributes are what we know to be true about Him. **His Word is His revelation of Himself to us. **His attributes do not increase or diminish. **They do not contradict each other. **Praising God for His attributes gives us a high view of Him (seeing God as who He really is and ourselves as who we really are before Him). **We can never know too much about Him. **We need to know our Creator and base our lives on Him. **Because of who He is and what He has done for us, God has a right to place a call or claim on our lives. Also, I wanted to let you know what our keywords will be for both challenges. You will use the applicable keyword in any gallery where you post your work so that it will be easy for us to find your creations! These keywords will be used all year long.

Wise Men Still Seek Him
Today's Scripture
“The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom…” (Proverbs 9:10).

Today's Word from Joel and Victoria
After Jesus was born, the Bible tells us in Matthew chapter two that Wise Men came from the East to bow before Him and worship Him. They went to great lengths just to get a glimpse of the child and traveled a long distance for many months, following the star. When they saw Him, they were so overwhelmed. The scripture says they fell to their faces to honor and worship Him.The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom. That means that we should have a reverential honor and respect for Him—just like the Wise Men did. We are wise when we set everything else in life aside in order to seek Him. We are wise when we worship Him and give Him everything that we are. We are wise when we take time to honor Him. Remember, God is a rewarder of the people who diligently seek after Him. As you continue to put Him first in all you do, you’ll increase in wisdom and discernment, and you’ll move forward into the life of blessing He has in store for you.
A Prayer for Today
Father in heaven, I choose wisdom. I choose to put You first and seek You in all that I do. I honor You and bless Your name. Thank You for the many blessing You have prepared for me. In Jesus’ Name. Amen.

Merry Christmas may you and the family be Blessed!

Merry Christmas 2008 -
This was on Patter blog, so i just copied and paste it here to share it with you guys.

If I decorate my house perfectly with plaid bows, strands of twinkling lights and shiny balls, but do not show love to my family, I'm just another decorator. If I slave away in the kitchen, baking dozens of Christmas cookies, preparing gourmet meals and arranging a beautifully adorned table at mealtime, but do not show love to my family, I'm just another cook. If I work at the soup kitchen, carol in the nursing home, and give all that I have to charity, but do not show love to my family, it profits me nothing. If I trim the spruce with shimmering angels and crocheted snowflakes, attend a myriad of holiday parties and sing in the choir's cantata, but do not focus on Christ, I have missed the point. Love stops the cooking to hug the child. Love sets aside decorating to kiss the husband. Love is kind, though harried and tired. Love doesn't envy another's home that has coordinated Christmas china and table linens. Love doesn't yell at the kids to get out of the way, but is thankful they are there to be in the way. Love doesn't give only to those who are able to give in return but rejoices in giving to those who can't. Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. Love never fails. Video games will break, pearl necklaces will be lost, golf clubs will rust. But giving the gift of love will endure. Merry Christmas! -- Author Unknown

Get your Travel on early.....
Busy travel season begins at RDU

Posted: Dec. 23, 2008
Raleigh, N.C. — Tens of thousands are expected to pack the Raleigh-Durham International Airport on Tuesday – the beginning of the busy holiday travel season. Though travel numbers are expected to be down from prior years due to the slumping economy, experts predict full flights because the airline industry is offering fewer seats.

He Is Strong in You
Today's Scripture
”And the Holy Spirit helps us in our weakness…” (Romans 8:26 NLT).
Today's Word from Joel and Victoria
Sometimes, people get distracted by what they consider to be a disadvantage or weakness in their lives. It may be something about their personality or looks that they don’t like. Or maybe they’ve been through an unfair situation: a divorce, a bad business deal, or a bad break. We all have things that can feel like disadvantages; things that make it harder on us. It may even be a physical handicap where you can’t get around like you used to.But just because you have a “disadvantage,” just because you’ve been through a tough time, doesn’t mean you’re supposed to sit back and settle where you are. God still has something great for you to do! He wants to show Himself strong in and through you. The Holy Spirit wants to help you when you feel weak. If you will stay in faith and not get negative toward yourself or your future, then God can take what you think is a liability and turn it into an asset. What you think is a disadvantage, God will turn around to be an advantage so you can move forward into the abundant life He has for you!
A Prayer for Today
Father in heaven, today I give You all that I am. I invite You into the weak places in my life so that You can turn them into strengths. Thank You for working in my life and filling me with faith and expectancy. In Jesus’ Name. Amen.

My Prayers for you!

Faith Sisters - My Prayers For You Challenge Starting 2009
My Prayers For You Challenge Starting 2009

Beginning in January, Faith Sisters, will be hosting a bi-weekly Prayer Challenge. This challenge will be posted approximately every other week for 20 weeks. We are posting this now so that you can get your supplies and be ready to go in the New Year. The challenge will start January 14, 2009. As mothers we are all extremely busy. Many times it is hard to pray more than a vague prayer for our children. This challenge has been on my heart for nearly a year as the Lord called me to a new season of prayer with Him. I am so excited to share this challenge with all of you! Each challenge will help you to prepare your own prayer cards or album that will give you prayers to specifically and intentionally pray for the growth of your children's Godly character, protection, and His plan for their lives. It is never too early or too late to pray for your children, grandchildren, neighbors, children at church, your spouse or anyone that you love. I am targeting my cards for my own children but you can adapt your cards to be for anyone that you would like. It is our job as mothers to cover our children’s lives in prayer. “Pour out your heart like water before the face of the Lord. Lift your hands toward Him for the life of your young children.” ~Lamentations 2:19 The power of God penetrates a child’s life when parents pray. I think it is very important to follow Jesus’ example of using the word in our prayers as He did when rebuking satan in Luke 4:7-8. However, I often struggle to remember the scriptures I want to include as I intercede for my children. That is why I started my prayer cards! Now the specific scriptures that I pray are easily found in a compact place. These cards have also helped me to hide these scriptures in my heart so that I am better equipped when praying for my children. When we pray the Word we are taking hold of the promises he gives us and speaking them into our children’s lives. Each card will include a Bible verse that sets forth one Godly characteristic God desires our children to develop. The other side of the card will be a simple prayer. Every other week I will include my card with the scripture, and the prayer. You can use my prayer, or your own, on the cards that you make. I will show you my altered card and you can ask questions in the forum and share your cards in the gallery. I used Jumbo playing cards and a black, white and red theme. You can use cards, layouts, mini albums or anything that you choose. You can use your own stash and your own, unique style to create your cards. They will be 100% authentic to you. These challenges will furnish you with simple prayers that you can pray when you are too busy to think. The card’s will also be a reminder to your children of the prayers you are praying for them. The cards will help you nurture your children's faith with prayer & God's Word, and teach your children God's truths. I hope to help you plant seeds of faith and character through prayer. These challenges will help you to transform your prayers from vague and general requests to specific and distinct petitions in line with God's will for your children's lives. Let God speak to you through each Bible verse and learn from Him. Focus your prayers so you can see God's answers. It is my prayer that these challenges will encourage you to pray the word in your child’s life while also creating a legacy of prayers to pass on to your children that they can then pray for their own children. God Bless,
