The Core Of The Problem - 2/28/11 Our Daily Word.

Jesus Christ has come to people “rotten to the core,” and makes us “a new creation” by faith in Him (2 Cor. 5:17). In His goodness, He has fixed our problem completely—all the way down to our core.
I know I’m a sinner and Christ is my need;
His death is my ransom, no merit I plead.
His work is sufficient, on Him I believe;
I have life eternal when Him I receive. —Anon.
We need more than a new start— we need a new heart.

ABC Scripture Challenge {Word # 5}, Easy

Challenge Word #5: Easy ( Copied and Pasted from http://triplethescraps.blogspot.com/, i will be posting my layout latter)

Have you ever been so tired of your circumstances that you just want to tell God you have had enough? Do you feel like things are never easy for you and as you make it through one trial, another comes your way? Yesterday, I lost my precious grandmother. We found out Friday she had 1-3 days to live. Receiving such news is never easy. Living a Christian life is never easy but as a Christian, you have access to the Holy, Loving, Creator God who cares about you and wants to carry your burdens with you.
The Greek word for ‘easy’ is ‘chrestos’ which means “comfortable or manageable.” God never tells us that being a Christian is easy. But when we are partnered with Christ, even the most difficult news and/or situation becomes ‘manageable’. If the situation is still unbearable, maybe you are trying to do things in your own strength. Jesus wants to help you carry that burden, problem, or difficulty. He doesn’t want you to go through it alone. In fact, the circumstances will seem so much worse if you try to handle it on our own. God is still God, and God is still good even when things are not easy. If we go through the hard times with Him, He will not only be glorified but our faith grows also, and then we receive that indescribable peace. Others will also see God at work in your life and may be drawn to come to know Him too!

Sometimes our struggles are discipline from the Father; sometimes it’s just life. Hebrews 12:10b-11 says “. . . but God disciplines us for our good, in order that we may share in His holiness. No discipline seems pleasant at the time, but painful. Later on, however, it produces a harvest of righteousness and peace for those who have been trained by it.” It wasn’t easy for Jesus to leave the Heavenly realms to come down to earth to be a man. Have you thought of what He left? Wow, not only what He left but what He took upon Himself so we might live!!! Nothing we go through compares to what He left and what He did for us. It wasn’t easy for Jesus, and it’s not easy for us but He certainly blesses us with friends, pastors, family, the body of Christ, and most importantly Himself to help make the rough road smooth. Isaiah 26:7 says “The path of the righteous is level; you, the Upright One, make the way of the righteous smooth.” Praise God we have Him to help us carry the load to help make it easier; to help make it comfortable; to help make it manageable!
For my page today, I used two verses from Matthew:
Matthew 11:28 and 30 “28 Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.” “30 For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.”

Perfect Peace And Rest - 2/25/11 Our Daily Word

This thought—that someday we shall be in God’s presence and enjoy Him forever—crowns many of the psalms and is an assurance that helps life’s present troubles fade away (see Ps. 16,17,49,73).

Perhaps no one but God knows the trouble you’ve seen, but this is not all that shall be. Someday, your Father will “increase [your] greatness”—you will be clothed with unspeakable glory. There will be comfort “on every side.” His presence and love will bring perfect peace and rest.

Richard Baxter writes, “O what a blessed day that will be when I shall . . . stand on the shore and look back on the raging seas I have safely passed; when I shall review my pains and sorrows, my fears and tears, and possess the glory which was the end of all!”

When all my labors and trials are o’er,
And I am safe on that beautiful shore,
Just to be near the dear Lord I adore
Will through the ages be glory for me. —Gabriel
When God wipes our tears, sorrow will give way to eternal song.

What Really Matters - 2/24/11 ( Our Daily Word)

The parallel to our life on earth is profound. It really doesn’t make any difference how the world ranks your status. The only thing that ultimately matters is whether you are “saved” or “lost.” As Jesus said, “What profit is it to a man if he gains the whole world, and loses his own soul?” (Matt. 16:26). Perhaps you’ve already trusted in Christ for your salvation. But what about your fellow passengers? Instead of sizing them up by the externals, talk to them about their ultimate destination.

It’s not what I achieve that qualifies,
It matters not if I gain wealth or fame;
The only thing I must be certain of
Is “Have I put my trust in Jesus’ name?” —Hess
In light of eternity, what one believes is far more important than what one achieves.

The Variety Of Creation - Our Daily Word 2/23/11

How can this be? How is it that a rather dull-witted ostrich survives despite a seeming inability to care for its young while the bombardier beetle needs a sophisticated chemical reaction to ensure its continued presence on earth? It’s because God’s creative abilities know no boundaries. “He commanded and they were created,” the psalmist tells us (148:5). From the ostrich to the beetle, God’s creative work is clear for all to see. “Praise the name of the Lord” (148:13).
All things bright and beautiful,
All creatures great and small,
All things wise and wonderful;
The Lord God made them all. —Alexander

Greater Compassion - 2/22/2011 (Our Daily Word)

Sometimes we face struggles in life, and we are tempted to think that God has forgotten us. We may even believe that God no longer loves us. But God’s love for us is as expansive as the open arms of Christ on the cross. And the tender compassion of our heavenly Father is more dependable and more enduring than the love of a nursing mother for her infant. Be comforted—His love never fails.

God will not forget His children
Nor will He forsake our care;
His compassion is enduring—
Even when we’re unaware. —Sper
God’s love for us is as expansive
as the open arms of Christ on the cross.

Graces Challenge - Faith Sisters 2008

Grace is a gift that God gives us when we trust by faith alone in the sacrifice of God’s only Son, the Lord Jesus Christ. The Bible says, "God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8, NIV).

Create a page about what Grace means to you.
(Posting My layout at a later date)

The Bible says:
“If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness” (1 John 1:9).
“For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord” (Romans 6:23).
"For there is one God and one mediator between God and men, the man Jesus Christ" (1 Timothy 2:5).
“I, even I, am He who blots out your transgressions for My own sake; and I will not remember your sins” (Isaiah 43:25).
“For if you forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. But if you do not forgive men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses” (Matthew 6:14–15).
“Therefore if the Son makes you free, you shall be free indeed” (John 8:36).
“As far as the east is from the west, so far has he removed our transgressions from us” (Psalm 103:12).
“And Abram believed the Lord, and the Lord counted him as righteous because of his faith” (Genesis 15:6).

Heat And Holiness 2-15-11- Our Daily word

None of us knows when we’ll be called to walk through the fire or how hot the furnace will be. But we do know this: God’s purpose for the flames is to purify us, not to destroy us.

ABC Scripture Challenge {Word #4}, Delight

Challenge Word #4: Delight  (I will be adding my layout later)

Copied and pasted from http://triplethescraps.blogspot.com/

I found it interesting as I began studying this week’s word. I noticed that the word ‘delight’ was repeated over and over again in Psalm 119. So, as I researched, I found that Psalm 119 is the longest chapter in the Bible and almost every verse mentions God’s Word and how we are to delight in it. A few wonderful verses include:

Psalm 119:16 “I delight in your decrees; I will not neglect your word.”
Psalm 119:24 “Your statutes are my delight; they are my counselors.”
Psalm 119:35 “Direct me in the path of your commands, for there I find delight.”
Psalm 119:47 “for I delight in your commands because I love them.”
Psalm 119:77 “Let your compassion come to me that I may live, for your law is my delight.”

I encourage you to read Psalm 119. There are 22 sections based off of the Hebrew alphabet. Maybe you could read a section a day for 22 days. Now that certainly would help get everyone in the daily habit of reading God’s Word and delighting in Him!

Providence 365 Week 7 - Romans 8:28

Welcome to another week of our Providence 365; (Copied and Pasted from http://www.faithsisters.com/) I will be posting my layout later!
Did anyone groan inwardly upon seeing that this week's verse is Romans 8:28?

Romans 8:28 (New International Version)

And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who[a] have been called according to his purpose.

This poor verse has gotten a terrible reputation in recent years. It's been flung about carelessly, thoughtlessly, flippantly, and probably a little bit self-righteously. It's been ill-used and over-used. It's been a verbal crutch when a hug and a simple "I'm so sorry" just didn't seem, well, spiritual enough.

But, it's a beautiful, hopeful, and most of all true bit of Scripture. No less beautiful, hopeful, and true due to its poor handling. And, we know that ALL Scripture is given to us for our benefit, for our encouragement, for our building up, even the annoying parts.

So, I ask you today to take a fresh look at this verse:

"And, we know God causes all things to work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to His purpose."

Think on that, my sisters! Everything in our lives is directed by a loving and gracious Father who has our ultimate good in mind. Things aren't random, with God in Heaven wringing His hands, wishing He could just do something!

In Scripture, we see Joseph being thrown into a well to die, then sold to traders, and languishing in prison. We read of Jonah being swept into the sea and swallowed by a huge fish. And, poor Job... Ultimately, we see Christ Himself, in agony on the Cross. And, in each of these situations, what could so easily seem to be pointless suffering was all part of God's plan.

In our lives, we have wayward children, distant spouses, heartaches, and crushing disappointments. And, our natural inclination is to ask, "Why, God?"

The difficulty is that often we don't see the reason for years, if at all, in this life. Despite things not seen, we are still to trust God, to have faith that our loving Father will not give us a stone when we ask for a fish. Fill your soul with the Word and ask the Spirit to comfort you and strengthen your faith. We can mourn, but not as those who have no hope. We can weep with those who weep and rejoice with those who rejoice, all the while knowing who holds our lives in His tender care. Rest in that, my sisters.

Friending 2/14/2011 Happy Valentines Day!

The social networking Web site Facebook.com was launched in 2004 as a way for college students to connect with each other online. It is now open to people of all ages, and currently there are an estimated 500 million users. Each user has an individual page with photos and personal details that can be viewed by “friends.” To “friend” a person means opening the door to communication and information about who you are, where you go, and what you do. Facebook friendships may be casual or committed, but each one is “by invitation only.”

Just before Jesus was crucified, He told His disciples: “You are My friends if you do whatever I command you. No longer do I call you servants, for a servant does not know what his master is doing; but I have called you friends, for all things that I heard from My Father I have made known to you” (John 15:14-15).

Unselfishness, oneness of purpose, and confident trust are the hallmarks of true friendship, especially in our relationship with the Lord. Christ has taken the initiative by giving His life for us and inviting us to know and follow Him.

Have we responded to the Lord Jesus’ invitation of friendship by opening our hearts to Him with nothing held back?

Providence 365, Week Six - Romans 12:6

Welcome to week six of Providence 365 as we reflect on our gifts. Our Bible verse is Romans 12:6 (Copied and Pasted from http://www.faithsisters.com/).
We have different gifts, according to the grace given to each of us. If your gift is prophesying, then prophesy in accordance with your faith;

What is a gift? It surely is more than a pretty package with a bow. One dictionary provides this definition:
1: a notable capacity, talent, or endowment
2: something voluntarily transferred by one person to another without compensation
3: the act, right, or power of giving.
What is a gift? Think about Christmas-time; when you see a child open a gift on Christmas morning. The joy on their face as they discover what was hidden under the wrapping paper. Maybe it is a precious baby doll, a classic novel or a new video game. And then when they use that gift – what a smile it brings to the face of the giver, to know that the gift was perfect and that the child could not wait to play with it.

Our Father feels the same way. It is through His grace that we are given our gifts. Our gifts are not to be set aside on a shelf; we are to use them to their fullest. I can only imagine how pleased He is when we use the gifts He has given.
What are your gifts? Our gracious Father has blessed each one of us with gifts. His Grace is amazing! Mine will be different from yours – yet each gift is perfect for us. Through the years we discover these gifts and are given the opportunity to use them.
In the book of Romans continue reading verse 7 and 8. It expands on using our gifts. As I was reading these passages, I could not stop. I continued to read to the end of chapter 12 and I encourage you to do the same. (Powerful words on being a true Christian and how we treat one another.)
How are you using your gifts? Throughout life we may be led to or asked to do something that is outside of our comfort zone , something we may feel we are not ready to tackle. Remember that God does not call the equipped. He equips those that are called. Perhaps He has given you a gift that you have not yet unwrapped.

This week, reflect on the gifts He has given you. Your challenge is to create a layout which shares your gift(s). How do you use them? Who is blessed through your gifts? When did you realize it was a gift? I know it is hard to write about yourself - but give it a try. Perhaps someone will recognize a hidden gift of their own through your layout.

My Prayers For You {Challenge 16} - No Room for the Devil

Holding a grudge opens the door for the devil to enter your life and cause you to sin. Doing things that are unholy or watching things that are unholy can also open the door to the devil. Shut out the devil by quickly resolving your differences with others, and especially with your children. Confess your wrongs. Extend forgiveness, turn away from unholy things such as music, tv shows, etc. before the devil gets a foothold.
Scripture: And do not make room for the devil. ~Ephesians 4:27
Prayer: Mighty Lord, keep my children safe from giving the devil any opportunity to take up residency. Help them to always keep their guard up and only do holy things. Amen.

Standing Ovation - 2/10/2011

Most Christians aren’t confronted with this much hostility. Yet we all need to “stand fast in the Lord” when the pressure is on (Phil. 4:1). We can’t let others silence our voice for Christ. Speaking up for Jesus does not always win the crowd’s favor here on earth, but it does ensure His approval in heaven, where it matters the most.

Stand up, stand up for Jesus, the strife will not be long;
This day the noise of battle—the next the victor’s song.

Intense experiences like this help us to realize just how much God, each and every day, watches over and protects His people. Saturday, January 22, 2011 - Providence 365 Week 4

Enjoy! In the book of Ecclesiastes, Solomon wrote "A person can do nothing better than to eat and drink and find satisfaction in their own toil. This too, I see from the hand of God" (NIV,2010) (Copied and Pasted from Faith Sisters P365)
What is satisfaction? The dictionary defines satisfaction as:
1. a. The fulfillment or gratification of a desire, need, or appetite. b. Pleasure or contentment derived from such gratification. c. A source or means of gratification.
and what is gratification? Pleasure, happiness, delight, gladness, enjoyment!

When you receive His gifts with gratitude, you cannot help but be joyful. All that we do and all that we have comes from Him. Our life is meaningless without God. Yet knowing that He is with us always, we can enjoy His bountiful blessings. His hand is present in every aspect of our day. We are His children. He wants us to enjoy everything He provides.

Your challenge this week is to reflect on an aspect of your daily life that seems mundane or that perhaps you simply go through the motions. Maybe it is an area of your life where you struggle or an issue that you simply cannot reconcile. Compare that with a part of your life where you are outwardly joyous and give thanks to our Lord. How are they similar? How are they different? What changes can you make to begin enjoying everything He blesses you with? How can you turn it around and find the joy that He wants to to have - and enjoy!

Now create a layout that helps you express your gratitude; your happiness; your pleasure in His blessings -the blessings He provides every day. Celebrate and rejoice. Enjoy! Here is WordArt to get you started.

So as I began to study this word, I heard George Winston playing in the background. It was coming from the upstairs TV. I went up to see my daughter watching the U.S. Figure Skating Championships. I asked my daughter to rewind because I really felt I needed to watch this skater. God knew I would be drawn to George Winston. He knew how to get my attention! Anyway, as she came out onto the ice, the commentator says “Her problem has always been confidence.” I then started cheering “Yeah God. Thank you for confirming the word for this week.” I was SO excited. Then I see the skater close her eyes as she skates to the center of the ice. I thought “Oooh, she is praying? Maybe she is a Christian. How awesome.” Then the commentator comes in to say “Maybe that’s part of her new found confidence. Did you see her close her eyes and gather her thoughts?” Then I got frustrated. Maybe she wasn’t gathering her thoughts. Maybe she was praying. Why did he assume she was gathering her own self-confidence as she closed her eyes? What was she doing? I will never know for sure what she was actually doing but I do know when we rely on self-confidence instead of God-confidence, we will eventually fail just as I did with my first two attempts at writing today’s study.

As I prepared this study, God also encouraged me to make a God-confident list. As He brought things to mind, I thought “Lord, this list could go on forever.” And yes, because it is about Him, it certainly could. How encouraging it is to look at His confidence and not my own. This is the list I should be making not my own ‘achievement’ list. Here is the short list I started, and I encourage you to add to it. Back it up with scripture. Keep the list in your Bible. When you begin to think you can do it yourself, remember, our confidence needs to be placed in Him and not ourselves. Here is the beginning of my list:

I can be confident in God that:
• Salvation is only found in Him. (Acts 4:12)
• My salvation is certain. (John 10:27-30, Philippians 1:6)
• I am indwelt by the Holy Spirit. (Romans 8:9, 1 Corinthians 6:19)
• He hears and answers my prayers in His way and His time. (1 John 5:14-15)
• His love for me is endless. (Psalm 32:10)
• He keeps His promises. (Hebrews 6:13-14)
• God does not lie. (Number 23:19)
• His Word is truth. (Psalm 33:4)
• God continues to transform me daily into the image of His Son. (Romans 12:1-2)

Good Wishes - 2/3/2011 - Our Daily Bread

Giving our best wishes to others for the coming year is fine. But our heartfelt prayer should be that we abound in love, so that we may be “filled with the fruits of righteousness . . . , to the glory and praise of God” (v.11).
Teach me Thy patience! still with Thee
In closer, dearer company,
In work that keeps faith sweet and strong,
In trust that triumphs over wrong. —Gladden
People with a heart for God have a heart for people.

Each year, individuals and companies throughout the metro area donate shoeboxes filled with toiletries to be given to homeless women and children. Last year, more than 15,000 shoeboxes were distributed to more than 80 homeless shelters across our 13-county area.
Homelessness is one of our city's most challenging issues. In Metro Atlanta, women and children represent the largest population of homeless residents. Faith in Motion in collaboration with United Way is working to end chronic homelessness in our community.
Donate!
Encourage your family, friends, congregation and co-workers to fill shoeboxes with new, unopened toiletries/personal care items for homeless women and children.
Peace & Blessings!

Defragment - 2/2/2011 - Our Daily Bread

Prayer can help to defragment our lives. When we cast our cares on the Lord, He will show us what we need to do and what only He can do.

O Lord, we bring our restless hearts
To You in fervent prayer;
Now help us wait expectantly
While resting in Your care. —Sper
We need prayer the most when we have the least time to pray.

Search me, O God, and know my heart today;
Try me, O Savior, know my thoughts I pray.
