Empowered to Overcome
TODAY'S SCRIPTURE
"I have given you authority …to overcome all the power of the enemy; nothing will harm you"(Luke 10:19, NIV)
TODAY'S WORD from Joel and Victoria

God has given you all power and authority to overcome every obstacle you may face in life! That means you are well able to do what God has called you to do. You can accomplish your goals. You have the ideas, the creativity, and the talent to be successful. You have been armed with strength for every battle!
God has already lined up the right people to come across your path. He’s already lined up the right opportunities. You have everything you need to live a victorious life. Not an average life, not a barely-get-by, mediocre life—you were created to excel. You have seeds of greatness on the inside. You may not have seen it in the past, but if you’ll stay in faith, it’s just a matter of time—victory is on the way. Don’t settle where you are.
Rise up in faith today and begin to declare, “I will accomplish my dreams. I can overcome any obstacle. I’ve been equipped and empowered to live in victory in every area of my life.”
A PRAYER FOR TODAY
"Heavenly Father, thank You for the power to overcome every obstacle I may face. Help me to see myself the way You see me. Help me to embrace the victory You have in store for me today. In Jesus’ Name. Amen."~Love Barbara~

Summer is the time when the most Ice cream is eaten, straight in from the new room and Sunday, July 19th is national Ice cream day! Check out the interesting News....
Breyers " Vanilla bean" is still my all time favorite, because they don't make Chocolate almond by Baskin-Robbins anymore! Now that's some good ice cream!

For years, vanilla has been the favored flavor. Now, during the 25th anniversary of National Ice Cream Month, a Harris poll dares to declare chocolate as the ice cream choice of the American people.
Scandal! Upset! Could that sensuous hussy truly usurp the pure, comforting simplicity of the vanilla bean? Countless sources beg to differ, among them the
NPD Group and the International Ice Cream Association (although, OK, that second list dates back to 2006).
Flavor Explosion The real story isn't the favorite, but how many flavors exist nowadays.
According to Country Living, the best-sellers from top brands are: Ben & Jerry's Cherry Garcia, Graeter's black raspberry chip, Baskin-Robbins Praline 'n' Cream, and Breyers vanilla.
Then you have
taste-masters creating mixes like ginger wasabi (Cold Stone). In Boston, the trend includes bitter basil, salty caramel, spicy chocolate, and curried coconut. At the 2008 Yokohama Ice Cream Expo, where weird favors ruled, people couldn't get enough of the beef tongue. As if the milk from the cow wasn't enough.
Variations on a Cream No bovine preferences among the ice cream flavors searched on Yahoo!, but trendy variations like
basil did pop up, as did traditional standbys like butter brickle and oddities like Orange Crush. (Another soda maker, Dr. Pepper, appeared as among the topping choices, although peanut butter led the saucy searches.)
Other notable trends: People want their ice cream in cupcake form, homemade, or fried (especially Mexican style).
Below, in time for
National Ice Cream Day (Sunday, July 19), the most popular flavors: At least online, vanilla's place is assured, just like it was in 2006, 2007, and 2008. Sample for yourself, and weigh in below on your preferred pleasure. Oh, and since it is the 25th anniversary, knock yourself out and get a silver spoon to celebrate.

"Grace on Display"
Even as believers, we sometimes have trouble accepting that God really can forgive our past sins. This week on "In Touch," Dr. Stanley uses the life of Paul to illustrate how God's grace is available to each of us - no matter what we've done.

Blank journals are FULL of possibilities! Here are a few:
* start your very own gratitude journal
* start a 'hopes and dreams' journal, where you write down all those special wishes and dreams you share only with yourself.
* a book or journal, all about ' This week, I learned... '
* a book or journal, all about 'Right now I feel... '
* a place to write words that inspire you, filled with positive quotes and affirmations.

* I've read when you find a great affirmation you wanna apply to your life, you should write down this same affirmation down in a book 5 times/each day for 2 entire weeks! That way, you let the words become a part of your life! Wise advice I believe. Real writ
ing with paper and ink. Sometimes, I think it's fast becoming a lost art. More and more people are choosing to stay connected online, and there's nothing wrong with that. But I'm still a huge fan of real cards and letters sent, and writing my thoughts and feelings in a real book.Find yourself a beautiful journal that you love and start today!

Best and Worst Foods for Your Libido
It's no secret that the unhealthy American diet is contributing to an epidemic of obesity. But there's another hidden epidemic that our fatty diets are at the root of: a national libido crisis.
One of the big culprits, for both men and women, is obesity. As a person's weight soars, their libido plummets, due to biochemical changes that diminish blood flow. Extra weight also hinders their ability to have children—with men, it's damaged sperm; with women, it's ovulation problems. (Manage your weight with more than just food intake:
Try these downloadable fitness plans.)
The good news: With some simple changes to your diet, courtesy of the latest research from Eat This, Not That!, you can revitalize your relationship and dramatically improve your health.
FOR THE HORMONE RUSHE
at This!
1-OZ DARK CHOCOLATE - 162 calories11 g fat (6 g saturated)10 g sugars

Chocolate is full of anandamide and phenylethylamine, two compounds that cause the body to release the same feel-good endorphins triggered by sex and physical exertion. Cocoa also contains methylxanthines, which make skin sensitive to every touch. Aim for dark chocolate, which packs more cocoa than lighter milk chocolates, and keep portions small. (Click here for more great nutrition secrets like these.)
Not That!WHITE CHOCOLATE
White chocolate isn't technically chocolate, since it doesn't contain any actual cocoa—which means no heightened skin sensitivity, or rush of the feel-good hormone serotonin. (
Check out our slideshow of the 30 Worst Foods in

FOR ENERGY
Eat This!
6-OZ SIRLOIN STEAK - 414 calories24 g fat (10 g saturated)46 g protein

Protein has been shown to naturally boost levels of dopamine and norepinephrine, two chemicals in the brain that heighten sensitivity during sex. Your steak is also packed with zinc—a mineral that boosts libido by reducing production of a hormone called prolactin, which may interfere with arousal.
Not That!AN ENERGY DRINK
While the caffeine and sky-high sugar content will initially leave you bursting with energy, you're setting yourself up for a major crash not far down the line. Additionally, Canadian scientists found that maintaining a diet high in sugar can temporarily lower your testosterone levels, which in turn can sap your sex drive—whether you're a man or a woman. See, the more testosterone you have, the higher your arousal levels. Too much sugar sends your T into hibernation—and your libido along with it. (
See our story about the 20 unhealthiest drinks in America.)

FOR RELAXATION
Drink This!
A 5-OZ GLASS OF WINE125 calories0 g fat1 g sugar

It's true: a glass of wine really does take the edge off. University of Toronto researchers discovered that one alcoholic drink caused people's blood vessels to relax. Booze acts as a depressant in the brain's cerebral cortex, lowering inhibitions that could otherwise restrain arousal.
Not That!A HALF BOTTLE OF WINE The University of Toronto researchers who found out about wine's relaxing effects also found that drinking more than two glasses of alcohol began to reverse the effects. And research from the University of Washington found that intoxicated men with blood alcohol levels of 0.08 to 0.1 percent (often three drinks or more) were negatively affected as well.

FOR POWER

Eat This!
½ CUP VANILLA ICE CREAM - 137 calories7 g fat (4 g saturated)14 g sugars2 g protein

Ice cream has high levels of calcium and phosphorus, two minerals that build your muscles' energy reserves and boost your libido. All that calcium—200 milligrams in the typical bowl—can also make you more sexually charged, since the muscles that control sexual response need calcium in order to contract properly.
Not That!TOMATOES
They're great for you in other ways, but tomatoes' lycopene and phytofluene can decrease testosterone levels. The effect isn't dramatic, but you may be better off skipping the marinara sauce if you want to get saucy.

Take a Step of Faith - 7/18/2009
Today’s Verse: “…And as they went, they were cured and made clean” (Luke 17:14, AMP).

Today’s Word: One time in the Scripture, there were ten lepers who saw Jesus coming through the city. They hollered out, “Jesus! Have mercy on us and make us whole!” Jesus could have healed them right then, but instead, He asked them to do something to express their faith. He said, “Go show yourself to the Priest, and you will be made whole.”It’s interesting that those lepers were not supposed to be around other people. They had to live in colonies by themselves because they were very contagious and considered unclean. I’m sure they debated among themselves, “Do you really think we should go? I don’t look any better. My skin is not clear. It’s just going to be a waste of my time.” But they dared to put action behind their faith. They decided, “Jesus said if we go, we will be well. Let’s go. Let’s take a step of faith.” The Scripture says, “As they went, they were made whole.”Friend, what is God telling you to do in your heart today? Take a step of faith. Put action behind what you are believing for. God is faithful. As you step out and show that your faith is in Him, it will open the door for His miracle-working power to flow in every area of your life!
Prayer for Today: Heavenly Father, I choose to trust in You. I choose to be obedient to You. Even when it doesn’t make sense to my natural mind, I am going to continue to walk by faith. I love You and bless You today. In Jesus’ Name. Amen.

What Does Your Handwriting Say About You?
Write On
How you craft letters and words can indicate more than 5,000 different personality traits, according to the science of graphology, also known as handwriting analysis. To introduce students to the field, graphologist Kathi McKnight has them write She sells seashells by the seashore in cursive. Why cursive? Graphologists say it gives them a better read on a person. Try writing the same sentence now in cursive (even if you usually print), then read on to see how graphologists might characterize you. (Note: Each analysis corresponds to the handwriting sample to its right.)

If Your Writing Slants…
To the right: You are open to the world around you and like to socialize with other people. To the left: You generally like to work alone or behind the scenes. If you are right-handed and your handwriting slants to the left, you may be expressing rebellion. Not at all: You tend to be logical and practical. You are guarded with your emotions.

If the Size of Your Letters Is…
Large: You have a big personality. Many celebrities have large handwriting. It may suggest that you are outgoing and like the limelight.Small: You are focused and can concentrate easily. You tend to be introspective and shy.Average: You are well-adjusted and adaptable.

If Your Loops Are...
Closed for L (meaning the upstroke overlaps the downstroke): Feeling tense? This implies you are restricting yourself in some way.Full for L: You are spontaneous and relaxed and find it easy to express yourself.Closed for E: You tend to be skeptical and are unswayed by emotional arguments.Full for E: You have an open mind and enjoy trying new things.

You Are Closer Than You Think

Today’s Verse: “…He said to the paralytic, ‘I say to you, arise, take up your bed, and go to your house.’ Immediately he arose, took up the bed, and went out in the presence of them all, so that all were amazed and glorified God, saying, ‘We never saw anything like this!’” (Mark 2:10b-12, NKJ).

Today’s Word: In Mark chapter two, the Bible talks about a man who was paralyzed. He heard that Jesus was in town teaching at another house and knew that He could heal him. The paralyzed man convinced four of his friends to carry him on his bed over to where Jesus was. When they arrived, the house was so packed that they couldn’t get in. Do you know what happened next? Instead of just giving up and going home, the man was so determined to get his miracle that he convinced his friends to climb up on the roof, cut a hole in it, and lower him down to where Jesus was!Now this man understood that you are closest to your victory when you face the greatest opposition. A lot of people would have just given up. They would have seen the crowd and gone home—even though they were just a few feet away from their miracle. Don’t let that be you! What are you believing for? Don’t give up just because there is opposition. Don’t let others discourage you from seeing your miracle. Keep pressing through today because you are closer than you think to the victory God has in store for you!

Prayer for Today: Heavenly Father, today I release all of my cares and anxieties on You. I trust that my breakthrough is coming. I choose to press in and stand strong. I believe Your Word, and I believe that You will reward me as I diligently seek after You. In Jesus’ Name. Amen.

What Moves God
TODAY´S SCRIPTURE

"And when He saw their faith… "(Luke 5:20, KJV )
TODAY´S WORD from Joel and Victoria
Do you know what moves the hand of God? This may surprise you, but God is not moved by complaining and self-pity. He’s not even moved by our needs. Yes, He is concerned about our needs, and yes, He wants to meet our needs, but we have to do our part and invite Him to work in our lives by exercising our faith. When Jesus walked the earth, oftentimes right before He healed someone, the Bible says something like this, "When He saw their faith…" And so I ask you today, can God see your faith? When God sees you doing everything you can to get well; when He sees you getting to work a little earlier because you really want that promotion; when He sees you bypass the cookie jar because you’ve been believing to lose weight; when He sees you bite your tongue to keep the peace in your house; when He sees you help others when you really need more help than they do; when God sees your faith, that’s when extraordinary things will begin to happen. Faith opens the door for God to move, so demonstrate your faith today and watch the hand of God move in every area of your life!
A PRAYER FOR TODAY
Father in heaven, thank You for the gift of faith. I choose today to exercise my faith and invite You to move on my behalf. Keep me close to You, search my heart and remove anything that is displeasing to You. I bless You today and always. In Jesus’ Name. Amen.~Love Barbara~

Love is Patient, Love is Kind
"Love is patient, love is kind.
It does not envy, it does not boast,
It is not proud. It is not rude,
It is not self-seeking,
It is not easily angered,
It keeps no record of wrongs.
Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth.
It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always preserves."
1 Corinthians 13:4-7
~Love Barbara~
I Corinthians 13:1-13
If I speak in the tongues of men and of angels, but have not love, I am only a resounding gong or a clanging cymbal. If I have the gift of prophecy and can fathom all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have a faith that can move mountains, but have not love, I am nothing. If I give all I possess to the poor and surrender my body to the flames, but have not love, I gain nothing.
************
Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. Love never fails. But where there are prophecies, they will cease; where there are tongues, they will be stilled; where there is knowledge, it will pass away. For we know in part and we prophesy in part, but when perfection comes, the imperfect disappears. When I was a child, I talked like a child, I thought like a child, I reasoned like a child. When I became a man, I put childish ways behind me. Now we see but a poor reflection as in a mirror; then we shall see face to face. Now I know in part; then I shall know fully, even as I am fully known. And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love.

1. Orlando (Walt Disney World / Universal Orlando), Fla.
A cluster of perennial tourist favorites surround this mid-Florida metropolis. It got votes as a top-selling vacation destination from all of the travel agencies we polled. The allure of Disney World, Sea World, Universal Studios and a host of other theme parks—not to mention the balmy Florida weather—make this city a prime holiday hot-spot.
2. New York City
As with Orlando, travel agencies unanimously reported that New York City was one of their best-selling vacation destinations during the past year. Leisure opportunities within the city are virtually endless, but Travelocity's poll of its marketing managers found that "Broadway shows" topped its list of vacationers' Manhattan destinations.
3. Las Vegas
The city of perpetual indulgence welcomed more than 37 million visitors in 2008 and is home to 17 of the biggest hotels in the U.S. The city's casinos, shows, fine dining and warm desert air put it at or near the top of the list as a best-selling vacation destination for a majority of the travel organizations we surveyed.
4. San Francisco
The Golden Gate Bridge, Fisherman's Wharf, world-class museums and restaurants are among the draws of this West Coast destination, which attracts more than 16 million visitors annually. Travel-Ticker customers preferred deals on hotels near the waterfront or Union Square.
5. Los Angeles
The entertainment capital of the world is also surrounded by inviting beaches and mountains—and is located a short drive from tourist-magnet Disneyland. Cultural, sight-seeing and shopping opportunities abound; new attractions include the Annenberg Space for Photography (opened this Spring) and Madame Tussaud’s Hollywood (scheduled to open summer 2009).
6. Cancun and Cozumel, Mexico
Cancun and Cozumel are among the popular destinations on Mexico's "Mayan Riviera," the stretch of coastline along the Caribbean side of the Yucatan Peninsula. Beach and ocean activities are the order of the day here, especially snorkeling and scuba diving in the spectacular Great Maya Reef.
7. Chicago
Travelocity's marketing managers found the Blue Man Group to be the best-selling Chicago attraction for their customers, but the Windy City is home to myriad vacation draws, from its architectural wonders to high-profile sports franchises to a thriving theater scene and numerous lakefront leisure activities.

1 Corinthians 12
Spiritual Gifts- Are you working in your Spiritual Gift?
1Now about spiritual gifts, brothers, I do not want you to be ignorant.
2You know that when you were pagans, somehow or other you were influenced and led astray to mute idols.
3Therefore I tell you that no one who is speaking by the Spirit of God says, "Jesus be cursed," and no one can say, "Jesus is Lord," except by the Holy Spirit.
4There are different kinds of gifts, but the same Spirit.
5There are different kinds of service, but the same Lord.
6There are different kinds of working, but the same God works all of them in all men.
7Now to each one the manifestation of the Spirit is given for the common good.
8To one there is given through the Spirit the message of wisdom, to another the message of knowledge by means of the same Spirit,
9to another faith by the same Spirit, to another gifts of healing by that one Spirit,
10to another miraculous powers, to another prophecy, to another distinguishing between spirits, to another speaking in different kinds of tongues,[a] and to still another the interpretation of tongues.[b]
11All these are the work of one and the same Spirit, and he gives them to each one, just as he determines.
12The body is a unit, though it is made up of many parts; and though all its parts are many, they form one body. So it is with Christ.

13For we were all baptized by[c] one Spirit into one body—whether Jews or Greeks, slave or free—and we were all given the one Spirit to drink.
14Now the body is not made up of one part but of many.

15If the foot should say, "Because I am not a hand, I do not belong to the body," it would not for that reason cease to be part of the body.
16And if the ear should say, "Because I am not an eye, I do not belong to the body," it would not for that reason cease to be part of the body.
17If the whole body were an eye, where would the sense of hearing be? If the whole body were an ear, where would the sense of smell be?
18But in fact God has arranged the parts in the body, every one of them, just as he wanted them to be.
19If they were all one part, where would the body be?
20As it is, there are many parts, but one body.
21The eye cannot say to the hand, "I don't need you!" And the head cannot say to the feet, "I don't need you!"
22On the contrary, those parts of the body that seem to be weaker are indispensable,
23and the parts that we think are less honorable we treat with special honor. And the parts that are unpresentable are treated with special modesty,
24while our presentable parts need no special treatment. But God has combined the members of the body and has given greater honor to the parts that lacked it,
25so that there should be no division in the body, but that its parts should have equal concern for each other.
26If one part suffers, every part suffers with it; if one part is honored, every part rejoices with it.
27Now you are the body of Christ, and each one of you is a part of it.
28And in the church God has appointed first of all apostles, second prophets, third teachers, then workers of miracles, also those having gifts of healing, those able to help others, those with gifts of administration, and those speaking in different kinds of tongues.
29Are all apostles? Are all prophets? Are all teachers? Do all work miracles?
30Do all have gifts of healing? Do all speak in tongues[d]? Do all interpret?
31But eagerly desire[e] the greater gifts. And now I will show you the most excellent way.

Give Life to Your Faith
Today’s Verse: “…faith without works is dead” (James 2:20, NKJ).

Today’s Word: Are you putting action behind your faith today? If we aren’t doing something that shows that we believe God, the Bible says that our faith is dead. Dead faith won’t accomplish anything. We have to give life to our faith by putting actions behind it. And, it doesn’t have to be anything big, just something that shows your faith in God. For example, I know people who are down and discouraged. They pray, “God, please. Get me out of this discouragement. God, give me my joy back. God, give me a new beginning.” And yes, prayer is important, but it’s only part of the process. What really causes God to act is when you do something about it—you get back up, dust yourself off, and say, “You know what? I’m not going to stay down. This is the day the Lord has made! I am going to be happy and have a great day.” That’s putting action behind your faith.I encourage you today to let your actions give life to your faith. Show the world that you are trusting God’s Word. As you do, you’ll give life to your faith, and you’ll step into new levels of His victory and blessing in every area of your life!
Prayer for Today: Father God, thank You for Your Word that builds faith in my heart and refreshes my soul. I choose to put action behind my faith today. I choose to give life to my faith so that You can accomplish Your will in me. In Jesus’ Name. Amen.

Faith That God Can See
TODAY´S SCRIPTURE
"…You can no more show me your works apart from your faith than I can show you my faith apart from my works. Faith and works, works and faith, fit together hand in glove"(James 2:18, Message)

TODAY´S WORD from Joel and Victoria
We all have dreams that we’re hoping will come to pass and promises that we’re standing on. And we should always be praying, believing, and hoping. That’s all part of faith. But there’s another step that oftentimes, people leave out—you have to put action behind your faith. Are you doing anything to show God that you’re serious about what you’re believing for? You can pray all day long, “God, get me out of this problem.” Or, “God, give me that promotion.” But if you really want to get God’s attention and see God move in amazing ways in your life, take it one step further and do something to demonstrate your faith. You may have an addiction, but are you going to a recovery program? Maybe you lost your job. Are you putting your resume out and knocking on new doors? That’s faith that God can see. And when He can see your faith, you’ll see His hand of blessing, provision, and victory in every area of your life!
A PRAYER FOR TODAY
Father in heaven, I come to You today releasing every part of my mind, will, and emotions to You. Show me ways that I can demonstrate my faith in You. Help me to make wise decisions so I can walk in higher places with You. In Jesus’ Name. Amen
