GARNER -- A senior at Garner High School died in a wreck Monday, just nine days before graduation.
Roy Alexander Bryant, 18, was driving a 1997 Ford sedan west on Old U.S. 70 near Clayton about 7:15 p.m. Monday, the Highway Patrol reported.
Bryant's car veered across the center line and collided with another vehicle, said J.T. Smith of the Highway Patrol.

At the time of the crash, Bryant was heading back to his home on Jones Sausage Road from his grandfather's house in Clayton, his mother, Marietta Johnson, said.
Johnson said her son was a popular student at Garner High.
"Everybody looked up to him," Johnson said. "He was like everybody's big brother."
Bryant worked a part-time job after school and was thinking about enrolling in classes at Wake Tech, his mother said.
The funeral is scheduled for 11 a.m. Saturday at Poplar Springs Church on Old Stage Road in Raleigh.
